Beyond our evaluated learning activities, there are several other resources available that can further Farm to School work available from other state and national organizations.

Life Lab: The Growing Classroom is a high-quality curriculum resource used across the country to integrate activities related to Farm to School with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core for Math and Language Arts content.


Big Ideas: Linking Food, Culture, Health and the Environment- A New Alignment to Academic Standards (2014) is a publication that identifies “big ideas” that link food, culture, health, and the environment and demonstrates how they align with the new academic standards for grades K-12.


U.S. Centers for Disease Control: Fruits and Veggies- More Matters is a health initiative focused on helping Americans increase fruit and vegetable consumption for better health. They “are here to help make the healthy choice also the easy choice.”


The Michigan Apple Committee Educational Kit for teachers can be used to help teach students about one of Michigan’s specialty crops- apples. The educational kit, with lessons and activities, is available for download as a PDF.


Michigan Team Nutrition is a USDA Food and Nutrition Service initiative supporting Child Nutrition Programs for food service, nutrition education for children, and more. Their initiatives focus on increasing school meal participation and creating healthier school and child care environments.


Smarter Lunchrooms Moves (videos by Team Nutrition Michigan) these videos feature easy and effective Smarter Lunchrooms moves that can be done in schools, these videos feature other Michigan Farm to School programs.


The Center for Ecoliteracy: Education for Sustainable Living is dedicated to cultivating education for sustainable living. The Center leads system change initiatives, publishes original books and resources, and more.


The Edible Schoolyard Project works to build and share a national edible education curriculum for pre-kindergarten through high school. It prioritizes access to the healthy food that underpins all other efforts to give children a strong start at school and in life.
