On October 25th, our Farm to School team was joined by Samantha TwoCrow and Amber Ochoa (TCAPS Title VI) to host a Three Sisters Harvest Party at Central Grade School. Earlier this spring three sister vegetables including beans, corn, and squash were planted in the school garden. Kids learned the Native American history behind the reasoning for planting these crops together and got to watch them grow throughout the summer. As the harvest season comes to a close, we celebrated by putting our garden beds to rest and enjoying a fall three sisters soup provided by Samantha and Amber. We ended the day by harvesting the last of the scarlett runner beans and planting garlic for the upcoming season!
